My Christmas wish came true. Jess and I last minute-dly packed a suitcase, removed a cat from atop that suitcase, sat on and zipped that suitcase, and bussed-trained-planed to New York for Christmas. (Well, Newark, we planed to Newark. And trained to New York.) This all happened in December, and I somehow am finding time to record it between all my SE Asia musings and not having internet access at our apartment. (I guess that’s how one affords to go on trips?)
This was a trip on a budget (which means I got to justify eating bagels for every meal weeeeee). Besides bagels and walking, Jess taught me about NY budgeting. She also took a ton of pictures and said stuff about them. In two parts.
What she did not mention and what I will mention is that we marched down to the city clerk’s office in the rain and got legally married. That was Christmas Eve. Two guys from Russia (who were in New York to also get married) were our witnesses. Since we just celebrated our first married Valentine’s day (Jess would keel over from eye rolling if she read this, guess who’s the sap?) and I got Jess a jar of Just Mayo, you can tell I am very romantic. And not sarcastic at all. I picked up a box of Missionary chocolates for her as well, but I wanted to eat them. So far I haven’t. In conclusion, we’re happily married now, and may I say how normal and special it feels daily.
And now, pictures from the trip.
